I am a footwear designer with nearly 6 years' experience in creating and developing outdoor and casual products for all ages, but desire to explore different facets of the soft goods industry. My life-long interest in footwear and design led me to choose a B.S. in Industrial Design and Sustainable Design minor from Western Washington University. I am interested in forming working relationships with people and companies in which all strive to reach new creative heights through cross-disciplinary opportunities and exploration of new skills, processes, materials, and techniques.
Philosophy
My design philosophy is ever in flux, as I believe that design is about creating a fluid process with which to curate a set of ideas. I often find myself drawn to the natural world for inspiration, though am wary of being restricted by purely organic forms. In my perfect world, every object would be beautiful, not only aesthetically, but also in function. Each product offers a unique interaction specific to its intended function, and I find it is often my job to define that interaction in the way which is most understandable and pleasant for the user. However, the most important job of any designer is to be a problem solver. Whatever the size of the problem, there is always an elegant solution to discover. This process is the most exciting part of any design challenge; the 'how' and 'why' I create are as important as the 'what.' I relish the hours of research, color theory, and form development in the name of creating a product that no one has seen before, an object which makes even a tiny part of the world a more pleasant place.
